Chocolate: York’s Sweet Past
Where: York Castle Museum Map
Delve into the delicious history of some of the world’s most iconic chocolates and sweets as York Castle Museum takes you on a chocolatey tour of sweets galore. (Runs from 1 April 2017- 5 Jan 2018)

Easter Weekend Activities – 10am to 4pm, free with Admission price
Chocolate Eggs – Discover more about the history of chocolate and watch a demonstration in the Castle Kitchen using chocolate to produce moulded eggs.
Easter Baskets – A self-led activity, make you own Easter basket to take home.
Cost – Museum Admission Price, pay on the door.
Adult: £10, Access Ticket: £5, Children 16 and under: free with one paying adult. YMT Card Holders: Free.

York Chocolate Festival Market
Where: St Sampson’s Square 10am to 5pm
Filled with traders selling their handmade chocolate, desserts and sweets, alongside hot treats such as crepes and churros but also the not so obvious such as alcohol and pies flavoured with chocolate. Free entrance. Market Traders (pdf)

York’s Chocolate Story

Exhibition: 250 Years of Terry’s
Where: York’s Chocolate Story, King’s Square
Celebrating the 250th anniversary one of York’s most important companies. Showcasing a selection of the most interesting of the Terry’s products from opium based throat sweets to some of the most beautiful and decedent chocolate boxes in history.
(Runs throughout 2017)

A Very Chocolate Easter – A fully guided tour into the Easter of York Past, uncover fun facts about the chocolatiest holiday of all including the secret of why certain children in York once got to enjoy solid Easter eggs and watch as the chocolatiers create amazing edible creations. Kid’s Easter Egg Lollipop Making
10.30am to 12.30am
Where: Demonstration Area, St Sampson’s Square
Each morning we’ll be joined by York Cocoa House, who will lead a drop-in chocolate Easter lolly workshop.
Cost: Free entrance, drop in any time.

Chocolate Demonstrations
Where: Demonstration Area, St Sampson’s Square.
Local chefs and chocolatiers will be demonstrating how to make chocolate and how to use chocolate in sweet and savoury dishes. Demonstrations will be each hour, on the hour – 1pm, 2pm, 3pm & 4pm. Free entrance, drop in and take a seat

York Cocoa House

Easter Egg Decorating
Where: York Cocoa House, Blake Street.
Create your very own Easter egg! You will hand paint your design into your egg mould before choosing your favourite chocolate to work with. You will then beautifully packaging your creations to take home and show off or share.

Easter Bunny & Spring Chicks Chocolate Model Making
Where: York Cocoa House, Blake Street 4pm
Handpainting your mould, then using your favourite chocolate to create your very own Easter Bunny or Spring Chick. Then beautifully package to take home.

Chocolate Truffle Making
At York Cocoa House, Blake Street
Create your own chocolate truffles, and then learn how to professionally temper the chocolate so you can hand dip and then decorate your chocolates before before taking them home.

Easter Trail
Where: Demonstration Area, St Sampson’s Square.
In association with the Lord Mayor’s Charities, an Easter Trail is being held over the Bank Holiday weekend. Fun for all the family, wandering around the city collecting clues. Completed entries to be handed in at the Demonstration area for a chocolate gift!.
A Grand Prize Draw will be held at 4pm
Cost – £3 per trail sheet, to be picked up from Visit York Information Centre.

Rowntree's Poster

Rowntrees Walks
During or after the Festival Five Rowntrees Walks
Five unique walks around the city that show you Rowntrees history.
Booklet with information for these walks can be picked up at the information point (demonstration area) on St Sampson’s Square.
Price – A donation would be greatly appreciated.

A Very Terry Easter

Come and join in some very chocolatey fun! From chocolate trails, to blindfold taste tests and chocolate box making and chocolate talks. Enjoy a very Terry Easter and indulge in some chocolate orange cake in the dining room; and then walk it off with a breath of fresh air in the garden!York
